SCOLAR had organised overseas immersion programmes for serving primary school English teachers since the 2006/07 school year to enhance their English language proficiency level and enrich their experience in English language teaching. Participants were obliged to develop action plans based on what they gained from the overseas programmes and implement in their schools.
To enhance serving primary school principals' capacity in monitoring and facilitating their teachers who have joined the above-mentioned overseas immersion programme in implementing the post-trip action plan, as well as the principals' leadership in curriculum development, teacher development and school development in strengthening English language education in school, SCOLAR further introduced an Overseas Study Programme on English Language Education for Primary School Principals in Hong Kong in the 2007/08 school year.
